Li Baodong meets Wang Binying, WIPO Deputy Direct…

On July 26th, H. E. Mr. Li Baodong, Secretary General of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), met with H. E. Ms. Wang Binying, Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the rest of the WIPO delegation at the BFA Secretariat. WIPO Assistant Director General Edward Kwakwa, Director Liu Hua of the WIPO Office in China, Director Alexandra Grazioli of the Lisbon Registry Department were present. BFA Executive Director Cheng Ji and Director Zou Ling, Member of the BFA Macao Committee for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development and Director of the Organizing Committee of the BFA Global Urban and Rural Development Forum (GURD) were also present. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening exchanges and cooperation in jointly promoting global innovation and development.

Secretary General Li Baodong welcomed the WIPO delegation, stating that, against the backdrop of increasing global uncertainty, innovation and intellectual property protection have become driving forces for scientific and technological progress, industrial innovation and sustainable development. WIPO is a vital specialized agency of the United Nations. The BFA would like to scale up cooperation with the WIPO under the framework of the BFA Annual Conference and GURD to stimulate innovation，thus promoting sustainable recovery and development of the global economy.

Deputy Director General Wang Binying said that the Boao Forum for Asia has played an important role in promoting regional dialogue and cooperation, and that the two sides would jointly promote intellectual property protection and scientific and technological innovation through the BFA platform and WIPO GREEN, to boost innovation, competitiveness and creativity in China and other Asian countries, and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
